Have you ever had an amazing idea come to you and you simply tried to ignore it? I mean an idea that nags at your soul and no matter how hard you try to ignore it, it will not go away. So, what do you do? You try it and you feel a sense of gratification. Then, as fast as it came, it disappeared like cake on my kitchen counter.
Well, this was me ten years ago. I had a brilliant idea to start a blog. I wanted to journal my experience as a mother of five with children aged, at that time, twenty-one to two. (I’ll let that sink in for a minute.) That was actually the name of my blog, twentyonetotwo.com. Well, what happened to it? I had written about twenty blog posts, and they were amazing. They were family friendly, gave informative resources, and were amusingly relatable. But I didn’t know how to reach my readers. Doubt kicked in and I started to believe I was not good enough. “Success” was not coming fast enough for me. So, I gave up. What a mistake that was. If I had only kept with it, there is no telling where the blog would be today. Well, I’m here to say, “I’m back and I am not going anywhere this time!” I have so much to say, and I truly believe I am here to make a difference in someone’s life. If I can reach at least one person and their life is the better because if it, then my goal is accomplished.
So, welcome to Beingtheirmom.com. I’m Angel Jones, your awesome creator. This blog is all about being these amazing people’s mom and all that comes with it. Journaling is still in me. I have a love for journaling because it allows me to revisit the growth of my family. It’s like recording our story, our life, in my voice, from my point of view. It is a way for me to leave memories that they can cherish when I am long gone. Funny story: my oldest daughter retold the story of when we visited Walt Disney World. She tells how I was gifted a present that was attached to her baby sister’s ankle while we were on vacation. I was so confused. She swore that is what happened and argued with me until I explained we went to Walt Disney World in 2008 and her sister wasn’t born until 2010. The look on her face was priceless. I wanted to say, “girl I told you so”. I will not lie, for a moment she had me questioning my memory. I am not that old! With this being said, it is important to me to record what happens in my voice, in my writing because our kids often remember events differently than how we see them, how they happen or when they actually took place. My story is mine and theirs can be recorded by them.
Let me tell you what you can expect from this blog: story time (often clips from my journals), recipes, family activities, links to YouTube videos, free downloads, and many misspelled words. Oh yea, disclaimer…I have adult ADD and dyslexia, it may show through my writing from time to time so don’t judge me. And if you do, I really don’t care! Hee-Hee! There are also affiliate links and if you happen to purchase something that makes your life better from a link I provided, I will collect a small commission from it.
